History Made. Again.

Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton Sworn in as First Woman to Lead the Chamber

Please join us in congratulating Speaker Joanna McClinton, who became the first woman and second Black person to serve Pennsylvania as Speaker of the House today.

Since 2020, we have partnered with Speaker McClinton to build a majority in the Pennsylvania State House. In 2022, we invested 80 times more than the next largest contributor to caucuses and candidates to fuel a new majority committed to serving all Pennsylvanians.

From our work together to canvass voters in areas we believed would be critical in the election before a single district line was drawn, to working together on our Door Knocking Challenge that incentivized candidates to get out in their districts and meet their voters instead of dialing for dollars, our partnership was successful. In 2022, we flipped 12 seats to win the Pennsylvania House majority for the first time in 12 years.

Powering campaigns that could help hold the majority in 3 special election races this February was a no-brainer. And with all three seats defended and newly elected Representatives ready to vote, Speaker McClinton made history today.

We’re so proud to call Speaker McClinton a partner in our work. We look forward to watching her lead the Pennsylvania House to safeguard democracy, protect personal freedoms, and improve the lives of all Pennsylvanians.
