TSP Elevates Mandara Meyers to Executive Director; Daniel Squadron to Expand Strategic Impact as President

NEW YORK – The States Project (TSP) today announced a strategic evolution in its leadership to expand its capacity to build the power in states to achieve the American Promise. Mandara Meyers, previously Chief Programs Officer, has been appointed Executive Director, taking the helm of The States Project’s daily operations and leading on its strategic priorities. Daniel Squadron, TSP’s co-founder and Executive Director, will transition to the newly created role of President, strategically expanding the effort’s national influence through innovation, thought leadership, and enhanced partnerships.

Since joining TSP in 2020, Meyers has driven unprecedented growth and measurable success in its electoral and policy programs. Her demonstrated strategic vision and operational excellence have uniquely positioned her to guide TSP’s critical mission forward.

“I am excited to take on this new role at a time when the work in state legislatures has never been more urgent.  The States Project is sharpening our focus, scaling what works, innovating new game-changing tactics, and staying relentlessly committed to building governing power in the states,” said Mandara Meyers, Executive Director of The States Project. “It is a privilege to continue collaborating closely with our co-founders and our team to advance this essential work.”

In his new capacity as President, Squadron will significantly broaden the effort’s scope, cultivating new strategic initiatives, fostering high-level partnerships, and amplifying the effort’s long-term vision. “Mandara is an extraordinary leader whose achievements and effectiveness make her uniquely suited for this role,” said Daniel Squadron, co-founder and President of The States Project. “With her leadership, The States Project remains more committed than ever to fulfilling the American Promise by helping state lawmakers build the power in states to deliver real results to improve people’s lives.”

“This growth and expansion comes at a pivotal time, when the significance of state legislatures in shaping our nation’s future has never been clearer,” said Adam Pritzker, Founding Partner of The States Project.  “Mandara’s strategic clarity and strengths as a leader combined with Daniel’s expansion of responsibilities position The States Project to make an even greater impact as we work to convince more people to believe in a hopeful vision for our country. I’m thrilled to continue supporting and collaborating with them both in this next chapter.”

This strategic evolution comes at a time when the role of states is pivotal to safeguarding democracy and driving progress toward the American promise. The effort’s enhanced leadership structure will allow it to scale core initiatives while launching complementary strategies to further advance effective government, representative democracy, personal freedom, and fair markets.

Prior to TSP, Meyers was a government relations attorney, led efforts to elect and develop numerous political leaders at state and local levels, and ran a foundation dedicated to leadership. She graduated from Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School and began her career as a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs.
