Michigan state lawmakers just made history by repealing an extreme 1931 abortion ban, protecting abortion access for 2.2 million Michiganders of reproductive age. Just as historic? The Senate majority that sent this bill to Governor Whitmer’s desk is made up of a majority of women lawmakers.
Reproductive freedom affects the whole person: physical + mental health, $ stability, capacity to care for others, & ability to create a family later…Today, we are telling women – and their nurses and doctors – that we trust them to make these deeply personal decisions. pic.twitter.com/afcbGh8ozy

And Michigan state lawmakers didn’t stop at protecting abortion. On Tuesday they also took action to:
- Protect LGBTQ+ Michiganders from housing and employment discrimination
- Improve wages for nearly 200K construction workers
- Strengthen workers’ right to unionize for higher paychecks and safer working conditions
- Advance gun safety with universal background checks
Friends, YOU helped make these policies, which will improve lives in Michigan, possible. You helped us fuel Michigan’s state majorities and built governing power for state lawmakers who are committed to improving lives.
This is the kind of change that’s possible when we build power in state legislatures around the country.
