With a supermajority in both chambers and a Republican governor, there is virtually no check on the rightwing’s power to enact policies like these.
That’s why we must break the supermajority in at least one chamber this November.
On election day, Ohio voters will choose a new governor — either Trump-endorsed Vivek Ramaswami, Elon Musk’s co-leader of the failed DOGE effort, or Dr. Amy Acton, who worked across partisan lines to lead the state’s Department of Health under a Republican governor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The race between Ramaswami and Acton is expected to be close. If Acton wins, she will only be able to veto extreme rightwing policies if we also break the supermajority in at least one chamber and protect her power. This is how we can prevent the most harmful policies from being enacted.
We see a path to break the rightwing supermajority in the Ohio House by building on the wins we powered in 2024, and flipping six additional seats this year.
