The States Project raised a record breaking $100 million for state legislative efforts this cycle — and fueled victories as the #1 funder in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and New Hampshire so far.
State legislative landscape could see largest shift since the 2010 Republican wave.
NEW YORK — On the most significant night for state legislatures since the seismic Republican wave in 2010, The States Project has fueled victories as the #1 funder in the following chambers:
- Wisconsin Assembly and Senate, creating a new trifecta that will have an opportunity to redraw Congressional maps
- In the Pennsylvania House and at least a tie in the Pennsylvania Senate, creating a trifecta for the first time in more than thirty years
- New majorities in New Hampshire House and Senate
- North Carolina House, the first Democratic majority since 2010
- Newly broken supermajorities in the Ohio House and Iowa House
The States Project raised a record breaking $100 million to support state legislative efforts this cycle and executed an electoral strategy to power every win that could be possible, across the map.
In response to the victories tonight, The States Project Executive Director Mandara Meyers released the following statement:
“The States Project’s strategy this cycle was to capitalize on the national environment to power every state legislative victory that could be possible. We understood that this year held a rare opportunity to upend rightwing dominance in state legislatures, and our record investment and big bets with an expanded map paid off.
“This is the most significant shift in the state legislative landscape since the seismic Republican wave in 2010. Lawmakers in new pro-democracy governing majorities will safeguard the next presidential election, stop rightwing gerrymandering, and defend personal freedoms.”
